Price: £25.00

Quantity: 1 available

Book Condition: Very Good

[1973 - 1976]. Two volumes, small quarto, pp 400; 464, superbly illustrated throughout, extremely clean internally, decorated cloth in very good condition, just very slight signs of wear to the dustwrappers, the slipcase is very strong, with only slight signs of wear. At the rear of each volume is a folder of 6 "high-fidelty long-wearing vinyl" records. These record the song of a total of 167 birds, and they are [playable on a turntable at 33.1/3 rpm. I have not had the opportunity to play the records, but they appear unused. These books are fine period pieces, very impressive in both their content and their production, and still of considerable value for their information today. The illustrations are a mixture of fine quality photographic and images from National geographic artists' watercolours. A detailed introduction to each family is followed by text and images of all the relevant North American species. In addition, there are specific general chapters on courtship and nesting behaviour, the battle against extinction, and the mysteries of migration. [A heavy set - extra postage may be required.]
