Second edition. Illustrated with two engraved plates (one with a key opposite), 12mo, pp (30), 220, + publisher's advertisement of six pages, there are neat manuscript page numbers set on the contents pages, a neat initial and date of 1808 on the verso of the title page, otherwise just slight age-toning throughout, the front hinge cracked but sound, a very clean and tight copy. Half calf and marbled boards (probably Victorian), a little rubbed and worn. RARE. [Blanche Henrey 216. Little is known of the author but the work, in its first edition, was highly praised by both John Evelyn and Samuel Gilbert. This second edition includes an extra chapter on evergreens and greenhouses; it also includes a catalogue of fruit trees and shrubs for sale from Brompton Park Nursery.]
